Culturally Sensitive Psychotherapy Online in California
Dr. Rachana Ali, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist | PSY35068
Hi, I'm Dr. Rachana Ali. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and a first-generation Indo-Fijian American — and I built this practice because I believe everyone deserves therapy where they feel fully seen and heard.
I work with teens (15+), adults, and mothers navigating anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, identity, and the weight of motherhood. I specialize in culturally affirming care for South Asians, Indo-Fijians, and individuals from immigrant backgrounds — and I warmly welcome people from all backgrounds.
All sessions are offered via secure telehealth, available anywhere in California. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can connect before you commit to anything.
My Specialities
-

Culturally Sensitive Therapy
In therapy with Dr. Rachana Ali, you don't have to translate yourself. You don't have to explain why you can't just "talk to your family" about it. You don't have to justify why setting boundaries feels impossible, why the pressure to achieve never turns off, or why you carry guilt about things that wouldn't even register as problems to someone who didn't grow up the way you did.

Therapy for Mothers | Maternal Mental Health
Motherhood changes everything. Your body. Your sleep. Your sense of self. Your relationships. The way you move through the world.
If you're struggling — whether you're pregnant, newly postpartum, or years into motherhood and still feeling like you've lost a piece of yourself — you're not broken. You're not failing. You're a mother carrying more than anyone should carry alone. And you deserve support from someone who actually understands that.

Couples Therapy
Every relationship has seasons. There are seasons of closeness and seasons of distance. Seasons where you feel like a team, and seasons where you feel like strangers living parallel lives. Whether you and your partner are in a difficult season right now or simply want to strengthen your relationship’s foundation or improve connection, couples therapy can help.
-

Self-Esteem Therapy | Guilt and Shame
Low self-esteem, guilt, and shame rarely announce themselves clearly. They show up instead as people-pleasing, perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, chronic self-criticism, and the quiet belief that other people's needs always matter more than yours.
Therapy can help you change your relationship with that voice — not by silencing it forcefully, but by understanding where it came from and building something truer and more compassionate in its place.
I am here to support you. Please reach out for a free 15- minute consultation.

My approach to the work is first and foremost grounded in building authentic connections with those I work with. Beyond that, I am trained in psychodynamic therapy, attachment therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I seamlessly weave these therapies together to understand your history, where you have been, where you are now, and explore how you envision your life to be. You can read more about my approach to therapy here.

Weekly therapy appointments are the most effective evidence-based frequency, and I begin the work on a once-per-week cadence. Each appointment is a standard 50-minute session. As we work together, we can explore other frequencies if that will offer greater support. Learn more about the types of therapy I offer here.
